Adam Smalley took 2nd position during Race One of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge at Silverstone.
Silverstone hosted Round 3 of the 2019 Ginetta GT5 Challenge. Smalley would be making his first outing on the Grand Prix Circuit, having only previously raced on the shorter National Circuit in Ginetta Juniors.
Smalley set the 4th quickest time in a wet Qualifying Session, with his second-best lap time putting him 4th again for the Race 2 grid.
Starting from the outside of the second row in Race 1, immediately jumping into 3rd position early on. He would soon seize 2nd position after overtaking Josh Malin. The leader however had managed to pull out a comfortable advantage on the chasing pack as they battled for position - meaning Smalley's main focus was maximising his points for 2nd on the grid, which following some good defensive driving, he held to the chequered flag.
Race 2 saw an almost carbon copy of the first race, as Smalley made another great start to vault himself into the battle for 2nd position with Gordie Mutch and Geri Nicosia. However the battle between Smalley and Mutch resulted in contact, knocking Smalley to the back of the field - forcing him to battle back to limit the damage.
Despite a fightback, the initial collision dropped Smalley too far back - meaning he salvaged 25th at the finish.
Smalley will be aiming to fight back at the next round at Donington Park on the 22-23 June.
