Ginetta Scholarship Winner Adam Smalley took a hat-trick of Rookie Podiums at Croft this weekend.
Adam Smalley made a solid start to the weekend by setting the 8th fastest time in a tight qualifying session. Smalley only completed half the session after a heated windscreen failure left him without any visibility in the wet qualifying session. His second fastest time of the session was enough to give him 6th on the grid for the second race of the weekend.
Smalley was on the unfavoured outside line at the start of the opening race of the weekend starting from 8th on the grid. He lost a couple of places on the opening lap but faught back strongly to 7th by half distance. Smalley survived a near spin in the closing stages - but salvaged 8th at the flag and a spot on the Rookie Podium.
The second race of the weekend saw Smalley maintain 6th position in the opening laps. However mud kicked up from a rival driver left Smalley with limited driver side visibility for the duration of the race. Nevertheless, Smalley battled on to finish 7th - taking 3rd Rookie in the process.
The final race of the weekend saw Smalley start from 5th and made a good start to maintain his position in the frenzied run into the tight turn one. Smalley was in a race long battle for fourth position. The race was tight between three drivers - Smalley was just pipped by Tom Wood at the finish as he took 5th position in the third race. Smalley did however complete a hat-trick of Rookie Podiums at Croft with his solid finishes and a strong points haul in the championship.
As the Ginetta Junior Championship heads into the summer break, Smalley is 7th overall in the standings on 167 points.
The next round of the championship takes place at Snetterton on the 29-30 July 2017.
